The Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells underwent a major renovation to its Wild West Water Park and overlooking restaurant to appeal to multiple age groups and prioritize guest retention. This nearly 70,000-square-foot aquatic playground added two new sets of dueling slides with translucent effects and rally points, a newly designed, multi-level play and spray structure, a separate toddler area away from the splash zones, a new adults-only swim up bar with western-themed cabanas, and modernized a restaurant that overlooks the water park in just seven months. The Holtz Builders team and Wilderness administration collaborated with Ramaker and Associates and ProSlide Technology to resolve a design elevation dispute on an existing slide tower platform. Added scopes of work included replacing rotten materials from slide penetration areas, resolving a conflict with the new slides and structural steel cross bracing, and adding a 3,000-square-foot swim-up bar with cabanas as a change order without an extension in a turnover date. The Swimm’n Chick’n: Chicken Eatery and Sport Bar received a facelift with a custom fabricated steel cage to house TVs and menus, an impressive 40-foot feature wall, a Bag in Box soda system relocation, and new kitchen equipment.
