Waite Rug Place transformed a series of run-down rug manufacturing buildings into an apartment building for the elderly. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places required specific attention to details and various approvals by the National Park Service and Wisconsin Historical Society. McGann Construction used a detailed review process to guarantee quality control. A redesign was required after the original estimates came in over budget. The delayed start resulted in special care so structural items we not exposed to extreme weather. More purlins and beams than expected were rotting out. Replacement Douglas Fir from the West Coast was difficult to acquire. All roof decking had to be replaced after asbestos was discovered onsite.
