The 42

The 42, located in Milwaukee’s Historic Pabst District, is a 186,000 square-foot renovation that turned one of the most unapproachable buildings in the neighborhood into a flourishing hub of activity. It includes a restaurant, brewery, rooftop beer garden and even office space for Stevens Construction. Work at this former two-level, windowless, 1977 warehouse, was particularly difficult because it’s located over an operating storage facility in the basement. All exterior bricks were removed to make way for floor-to-ceiling windows on the main level and the roof was completely replaced. Stevens made every effort to engage in environmental practices, even sourcing materials in Wisconsin to minimize fuel cost and transportation emissions.
