S&L Companies Aircraft Hangar

The Friede & Associates team took the S&L Hangar project at the Baraboo Dells Airport from concept to completion. Inspired by the hangar in the adjacent site, S&L Companies inquired about a design/build hangar on the adjacent lot to house the company jet. This hangar would be a little larger than the adjacent hangar at 95 feet by 100 feet on a 120-foot by120-foot lot. Friede staff handled the state, local and airport approvals and helped negotiate a joint use agreement for sewer and water systems with the adjacent air hangar. The hangar features an in-floor radiant heat system for the building and external slab to the taxiway for snow melt, a 75-foot-wide sectional hangar door that stacks up on one side of the opening and a 20-foot fan for ventilation and moisture evaporation. The project team faced record rains and an unusual major snowstorm at the end of October that dumped over six inches of snow on the construction site.
