This attractive and very inviting new airport terminal building was completed in only four months, despite obstacles presented by COVID-19. One of the first challenges faced was to take care of asbestos remediation before demolition of the aging terminal building could be completed. The contractor had space limitations from the proximity to the airport runway, so it made sense for wall panels to be built off site. Surprisingly high winds in the month of August impacted progress on the roof installation. Friede & Associates faced the challenges of getting product delivered in a resonable time and subcontractors were consistently dealing with quarantine. A significant portion of the electrical contractor’s work had to be rescheduled due to the crews’ exposure to COVID-19. Despite having to resequence crews, the mechanicals and interior finishes were all completing on time for this new 3,600-square-foot terminal.
