Holtz Builders was hired to remove and replace a deteriorating retaining wall at Noah’s Ark water park. It included demolition and replacement of 173 linear feet, more than 5,500 square feet of concrete cantilever retaining wall and footing. The contractor also disassembled two shelters while preserving their 25-foot by 52-foot and 25-foot by 60-foot canopies and removed approximately 5,500 square feet of pool deck to repair drains and cleanouts. Heavy snowfall, freezing rain and sub-zero temperatures and gusty winds shut the project down for eight days in February. While digging for footings, an exavator struck bedrock. A structural engineer was brought on site and laid out a plan to drill rebar into the bedrock for stabilization. The project included the installation of 152 linear feet of decorative ornamental iron fence to match the existing fencing onsite. It provides the elegant look of wrought iron and will withstand the seasonal shifts in weather and temperature in Wisconsin.
