Noah’s Ark Employee Housing by Holtz Builders is a state-of-the-art, four-story, 57,000-square-foot dormitory to accommodate seasonal international student employees in the Wisconsin Dells, along with a 6,800-square-foot Commissary Building for students and the public. The buildings are wood-framed, ground-up, slab-on-grade construction. HBI used a pull schedule for the project to ensure completion by the April 15 deadline. HBI used the latest technology with BIM, CAD and Bluebeam to pre-fabricate the wall panels along with the MEP to ensure components would fit once the project was underway. The first wall panels arrived in early September and the building was under roof and dry by mid-November. One major challenge was installation of Gypcrete on the three upper floors in the middle of winter. Pre-planning was key, as the team implemented a plan for appropriate moisture and heat. HBI kept the project well under budget.
