Zimmerman Plumbing was selected to design and build the plumbing, carbon dioxide and nitrogen piping as well as the air piping systems for the KT Kitchens – East Expansion project in La Crosse. KT – Kitchens provides fresh take-home meals for Kwik Trip stores. The $2 million plumbing project was completed in an aggressive nine months. All the above-grade piping had to be installed above an insulated metal panel ceiling. The ceiling was walkable but getting material in and out was difficult. The liquid carbon dioxide and vapor nitrogen bulk systems on site use compressed gas and liquid carbon dioxide in the meat preparation area for cooling mixers. The Trans Air piping was also part of the scope of work. This included 4,000 feet of aluminum piping for compressed air to all the owner-supplied equipment. The project included more than six miles of pipe and installation of 425 fixtures. It was completed on time and with no lost time accidents.
