To acquire and retain staff, Silver Dollar City and their parent company, Herschend Family Entertainment, contracted Holtz Builders, Inc. to construct a brand new employee housing building, adjacent to their park. At 330 feet long, this three-story, 54,744-square-foot, dormitory-style building provides 15,000-square-feet of ground level office space and 79 housing units between the second and third floor. Each unit consists of 338-square-feet of living space, accommodating up to four people per room. Being a new general contractor in the area, the project team worked extensively to create long-lasting connections and relationships with several new vendors/subcontractors. To keep up with the progressive schedule of 7.5 months for occupancy, Holtz Builders found supplemental contractors willing to work cohesively with one another. A CADDY electrical system was introduced to accelerate the electrical work, and supply chain issues were resolved through alternative substitutions. Since several International students arrived before the deadline, Holtz Builders, Inc. coordinated, and assisted with, relocation of the students by assembling beds in a nearby hotel, and then moved those beds into IRH-Silver Dollar City after completion. This project logged over 33,000 hours and had zero recordable injuries.
