Coastland Center

WDS Construction demolished a Sears store with an auto center and redeveloped the site into the Coastland Center in Naples, Florida. It includes a theater and future build-out space. The theater has six auditoriums, full kitchen and bar area for a dine-in, dinner-like pampered movie experience. It included an underground storm water retention system and several new building pads for future tenants. It required extensive collaboration with the owner to maintain mall operations. It endured hurricane shut downs and a 10-month delay from COVID-19, forcing a tenant into bankruptcy. Removal of asbestos was done in phases. There were also challenges for the erection of tilt-up concrete panels, as the site is in a landing/fly zone. Value engineering was used to reduce costs on the theater build-out. There were many challenges as a result of having three different design professionals on the project. The city required extensive site logistic phasing plans.
