North Star Processing Chiller Project

Rohde Brothers, Inc. successfully delivered a state-of-the-art chilled glycol system for Revela Foods’ (formerly Northstar Processing) spray drying facility in Litchfield, MN. Faced with long equipment lead times from suppliers, Revela Foods turned to Rohde Brothers to provide a faster solution. In just 20 weeks, Rohde designed, fabricated and installed a robust glycol chilling system featuring dual-circuit chiller skids, glycol pumps and advanced control systems. The roof-mounted system included two 170-ton chiller skids, four sliding-vane screw compressors and economizers, all controlled by Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI hardware. It also featured a decoupled system, ensuring independent glycol circulation and the ability to expand for future use. The system saved floor space by being mounted on the roof and operated efficiently across a wide range of conditions. Rohde Brothers completed the project on time and within budget, despite changes in scope, all while maintaining a perfect safety record over 1,000-man hours. Their collaboration with Caloris Engineering and Revela Foods ensured an efficient, innovative solution that met all operational needs, including remote monitoring capabilities and seamless integration with existing equipment.
