Former Lt. Gov. Kleefisch partners with ABC of Wisconsin

MADISON, Nov. 12, 2019 — Former Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch has partnered with the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin as the organization’s “Jobs Ambassador.” Kleefisch will serve as a representative for ABC of Wisconsin in this new role, with an emphasis on promoting careers in the skilled construction trades. “As Lt. Governor, Rebecca Kleefisch was a very strong advocate for promoting careers in the skilled trades,” said John Mielke, president of ABC of Wisconsin. “We are extremely pleased and fortunate that she will be continuing these efforts for ABC members and the entire construction industry.”

“ABC of Wisconsin is doing tremendous work connecting people to family sustaining careers, growing our economy and educating more Wisconsinites about these opportunities,” said Kleefisch. “I see this as a way to continue my work as Wisconsin’s ‘Jobs Ambassador’ helping to grow our workforce and economy at the same time we grow paychecks.”

ABC of Wisconsin is a construction industry trade association representing 887 member companies across the state. Kleefisch joins ABC of Wisconsin during National Apprenticeship Week, which runs Nov. 11-17. National Apprenticeship Week is a nationwide celebration that gives businesses, communities and educators the opportunity to showcase their apprenticeship programs and apprentices while providing valuable information to career seekers.

ABC of Wisconsin’s  Apprenticeship Program is a 501(c)(3) educational organization that works closely with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and 11 state technical colleges. Currently, the program has nearly 1,600 apprentices in 12 skilled trades, including 450 new apprentices who began the program this fall in communities across Wisconsin.  ABC believes strongly in the earn-while-you-learn apprenticeship model, which provides careers with limitless opportunities for advancement and high earning potential.

Rebecca is the former executive director of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, where she led the country’s efforts to commemorate and educate America about the 100th anniversary of women earning the right to vote. She served as lieutenant governor of Wisconsin from 2011-2019, where she championed workforce and economic development.
