Great Wolf Lodge contracted Holtz Builders, Inc. to renovate and add to their popular Buckets Incredible Craveables pool-side eatery and to revitalize the appearance of the restrooms in Bob’s Bar and the Wave Pool. Over 20 years of water park chemical exposure and an outdated, congested kitchen space necessitated a new design with an additional 552-square-feet, to include two new walk-in coolers, a dry goods storage space, a separate food preparation area, and service area. Located in the center of the water park, an enclosure was built around the construction site to contain dust and noise. Since the water park remained open throughout the duration of the project, equipment and materials were brought in before the water park opened. With a very small working footprint, it required constant coordination to ensure everyone’s safety. Unforeseen circumstances and hidden surprises required additional scopes of work. A significant hurdle was the integration of a new exhaust fan, requiring seamless synchronization with an existing system. New ductwork, plumbing, and electrical work, along with a false-roof overhang, transformed this outdated eatery into a fresh, modern, and temperature-controlled space. Two restroom areas also underwent major renovations to organize traffic flow and provide more amenities to guests.
