About the Project

With nearly four million visitors annually to downtown Wisconsin Dells, the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau envisioned a hospitality-related development consisting of nightly summer entertainment, pop-up specialty markets, seasonal celebrations, speakers, fitness classes, and other events. The vision included a covered entertainment stage and performance area, with lighting and sound equipment, concessions, public restrooms, and a storage building. Other features included an inground, interactive splash pad, the largest Kugel Ball fountain in Wisconsin, a mural wall with Wisconsin Dells inspired art, an entertainer’s green room, and a donor plaque wall. Extensive meetings were held with the City, Architect, and Engineers to coordinate scope of work responsibilities to relocate existing sanitary, storm, underground utilities, and infrastructure of Elm Street. Precautionary measures were established for safety due to weather-related challenging work conditions, preventing undermining of an existing building, separating the work zone from the millions of visitors, and relocating low hanging overhead power lines and transformers. Though the project faced material delays, it came together to bring life to the plaza. The seat wall planter beds, a main design element, were delayed due to labor shortages and the Kugel ball, transported from China, was delayed for nearly a year.
