The Union Bank & Trust project is a remodel and expansion of an important piece of history. This building is a former furniture store, billiard saloon, undertaking business, appliance store and repair shop. State Historical officials were involved in early design and established parameters of materials to remain. They determined the majority of the existing floor joists, flooring, exterior walls and plaster should remain. The selective demolition became the most detailed portion of the project, with the great majority performed by hand. To support construction above, new footings and posts were installed in the basement and floor joists were re-enforced with new dimensional lumber.
