This project is the demolition, renovation and addition to the 40-year old Madison Water Utility Operations Center, the largest project in the 65-year history of Daniels Construction. The contractor self-performed nearly 20,000 labor hours, including site utilities. They remediated double the contaminated soils outlined in the bid process. Cuna Sand and lean concrete stabilization base were compacted at a high rate to support the new foundation. They also installed a 235,000 gallon water detention system below grade. During construction, the Water Utility discovered it owned another 33 feet of property, so a retaining wall was demolished and reestablished on the edge of the lot.
