“The Current” is a design/build, five-story apartment complex along the Yahara River with 96 units above 28,000 square feet of retail spaces and underground parking. Despite struggles with dewatering, more than 3,100 cubic yards of unsuitable soils, and severe labor shortages, the project opened on time and on budget. Proximity to the river meant heavy scrutiny on erosion control requirements. Many suppliers were experiencing delays for multifamily products due to tariff-related demand. McGann Construction worked with the architect, owner and interior designer to value engineer options for the owner. The team extensively reviewed sustainable building options and implemented many of them for long-term energy savings.
