School District of Beloit New Welcome Center

Gilbank Construction was hired to turn the old dilapidated Roosevelt Middle School into the School District of Beloit Welcome Center to serve as administrative offices, enrollment center and community and staff training center. The building needed a face lift in addition to a complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing overhaul. There would be no shortage of challenges including the need to value engineer hundreds of thousands of dollars out of the project while still maintaining the integrity of the design. Heavy rains, offsite staging, inadequate soil bearing & contaminated soils added to the challenges. The project included the removal of more than 3,000 ton of contaminated soil, 231 vibrated stone columns and 30,000 square feet of soil stabilization.
