Job Description
Sprinkler fitters install and repair both high- and low-pressure pipe systems used in automatic fire sprinkler systems in buildings. Sprinkler fitters work from blueprints or drawings. They lay out the job and perform such tasks as measuring, marking, cutting, and threading pipe for installation. They connect fittings and sprinkler heads to pipe, then test the system to ensure that there are no leaks. Apprenticeship training programs ensure sprinkler fitters learn national codes and regulations for pipe specifications, ensuring fire safety. Future career path opportunities include jobs as estimators, inspectors, project managers, trade instructors, and foreman.
